[edit] EUDEC Website Working Group (AGM 09)
[edit] Goals
To create a new EUDEC website with the purpose:
- To present EUDEC with a uniform brand (something like a corporate identity)
- As an information platform for new people
- As a communication latform and information pool for regional chapters, members and member schools.
- As a presentation platform for regional chapters and member schools.
[edit] Means
- www.eudec.org will be aimed at new people wanting to learn about democratic education and EUDEC. It will contain texts initially written in engish and translated in the languages of all regional chapters. It must be designed in such a way as to appeal to new people on various levels, i.e. it should be graphically/aesthetically attractive, work at an emotional level with the use of colour, sound, film clips and emotionally resonant quotes.
- The member ste will probably be, e.g. www.eudec.org/members. Its purpose is information and communication between regional chapters, member schools and members. Its design can be simpler and more utilitarian, but conforming to th ebrand values. This will most probably only be written in english (EUDEC's working language).
- Individual regional chapter webstes, all conforming to EUDEC brand values and built around a uniform aestetic and functional structure. There will be a separate website for each regional chapter, written in the language or languages used in ther region or country. We are still not sure about the best olution for regional chapter address/URL's. This needs to be discussed. The issue is whether a regional chapter's website's URL would be:
- A sub-domain of EUDEC.ORG, i.e. CH.EUDEC.ORG in case of Switserland.
- A country-specific URL i.e. WWW.EUDEC-SCHWEIZ.CH In this case Swiss people may feel a stronger, personal link to the website (Note: this issue is particularly relevant with regard to e-mail addresses).
We feel EUDEC needs to have a corporate identity, including a logo, colour scheme and graphic "look". This ought to be created by a professional website designer/graphic designer in various member countries and compare ofers and prices.
Question: Does EUDEC have funds available to pay for a professinal? Could member schools contribute to the costs? These guidelines and suggestions may form the basis for discussions and negotiations with website designers.
