Official UN Decade Project
EUDEC is an official German project for the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
In December 2002 the United Nations General Assembly voted to declare a "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development" for the period 2005-2014. Development is considered sustainable if it meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. EUDEC has qualified as an official Decade Project owing to its democratic-participatory organisational structure, whereby children and young people have been involved in the planning and development of the network from the very beginning, and its strong adherence to principles of environmental compatibility.
